On behalf of an internationally operating logistics service provider with a global network, we are seeking an experienced logistics professional to lead the Ocean Freight department at its Munich location.

Your Role
In this leadership position, you will be responsible for managing the operational performance and further development of the Ocean Freight department. You will lead a team of approximately 10 employees across both import and export operations while ensuring high service quality and operational efficiency.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing the Ocean Freight Import & Export team
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the department while ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery
- Optimising operational processes and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitoring productivity, quality, and service performance
- Supporting the acquisition of new business and strengthening existing customer relationships
- Working closely with sales, customer service, customs, and international offices
- Managing budgets, departmental KPIs, and operational targets
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing employees while fostering a collaborative team culture
- Ensuring compliance with company standards, legal requirements, and customer expectations
Your Profile
You are an experienced Ocean Freight professional with proven leadership capabilities and a passion for operational excellence.
Ideally, you bring:
- Vocational training in Freight Forwarding and Logistics Services or a degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Several years of management experience within international ocean freight
- Strong operational knowledge of both import and export processes
- Experience in leading and developing teams
- Solid understanding of international shipping, carrier management, and supply chain processes
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Business-fluent German and English language skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and common freight forwarding systems
