About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly capable leader to oversee Ocean Freight operations at the LAX branch. The role is responsible for managing a team of approximately 15 employees across import and export, ensuring operational excellence, financial performance, and service quality. The position reports to the Branch Manager with a dotted-line relationship to the National Head of Ocean Freight and provides strategic direction to strengthen product performance and market positioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Ocean Freight operations within the assigned territory, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards
  • Drive financial results by achieving working capital, volume, and revenue targets while ensuring accurate costing, billing, and mitigation of profit leakage
  • Collaborate with peers and sales teams to secure competitive rates, analyze ocean freight market trends, and develop strategic product recommendations for customers
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Ocean Freight, providing training, guidance, and market insights to sales teams and representing the product to key customers
  • Oversee staffing, performance management, budgeting, and vendor quality to ensure operational efficiency and business continuity
  • Manage cross-docking, consolidation activities, and other operational workflows to ensure service reliability and process optimization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics & Supply Chain, Transportation, or related field – or equivalent combination of education and experience; industry certification a plus
  • Minimum 5–7 years of Ocean Freight product experience
  • Minimum 2–5 years of leadership experience
  • Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and foster a high-performance culture
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. import/export processes, compliance requirements, and customer service standards
  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to drive operational performance and achieve results
