For an internationally operating logistics organization with strong European roots and an established presence in the United States, we are seeking an experienced professional in General Ledger Accounting for the location in Long Beach, CA.

The company stands for operational excellence, structured financial processes and close transatlantic collaboration. The position reports to local management in the U.S. and works closely with the finance team in Germany.

Your Responsibilities

General Ledger & Financial Accounting

  • Preparation and posting of journal entries
  • Processing and review of general cost invoices
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • Ensuring proper documentation of all accounting procedures

Reporting & Analysis

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, Tax GAAP and IFRS
  • Analysis of balance sheet and P&L positions and reconciliation of key accounts
  • Preparation of reports, cost analyses and decision-making support for management and controlling

Month-End and Year-End Close

  • Execution of monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities
  • Calculation and posting of accruals and provisions
  • Quarterly calculation of corporate income tax (CIT) and deferred taxes
  • Support in the preparation of tax returns in cooperation with external advisors

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Monitoring of accounts receivable, accounts payable and fixed asset accounting
  • Oversight of dunning processes
  • Support of SOX compliance initiatives
  • Participation in the continuous improvement of internal accounting processes

Audit & International Collaboration

  • Support of internal and external audits
  • Close cooperation with cross-functional teams in the U.S. and Germany

Your Profile

Education & Professional Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or comparable qualification
  • Several years of experience in General Ledger accounting
  • Experience in an international or German-influenced corporate environment preferred
  • Logistics industry experience desirable

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and tax regulations
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, CargoWise) advantageous

  • Ability to perform under pressure during closing periods
  • Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset

Language Skills

  • Fluent English (written and spoken)
